Machinery
Electron beam welding, used for welding gears, etc., uses an electron beam accelerated and focused in a high vacuum to weld metals together. A small any-orientation turbomolecular pump pumps down the electron gun section to create a high vacuum. The welding chamber is also under vacuum and is pumped down repeatedly from atmospheric pressure for each work. To do it in short cycles require a high pumping speed. We line up the combinations of RD series roots vacuum pumps and the P series oil-sealed rotary piston pumps, durable against welding dust and can withstand repeated pumping down.
Metal 3D printers perform printing with the build chamber vacuumed.
Vacuum sintering, brazing, quenching, nitriding, etc., require a vacuum furnace. It requires a vacuum pump rugged against heat and dust and has large pumping speeds to enable short pump-down cycles.
