Metal and Steel

In producing high-quality steel, vacuum degassing removes dissolved gas from molten steel, vacuum carburizing furnaces improve wear resistance by diffusing carbon into the surface, and vacuum melting furnaces are used for refining high-performance alloys. These applications require pumping down to several tens of Pa in a few minutes. The gases in the processes also contain a large amount of dust.

We offer large steam ejectors with large pumping speeds, large oil-sealed rotary piston pump and roots vacuum pump combinations that withstand severe repetitive pump-down operation, and liquid-sealed vacuum pump and roots vacuum pump combinations that are tolerant to dust.

Electron beam welding, used for welding gears, etc., uses an electron beam accelerated and focused in a high vacuum to weld metals together. A small any-orientation turbo molecular pump pumps down the electron gun section to a high vacuum. The welding chamber is also under vacuum and is pumped down repeatedly from atmospheric pressure for each work. To do it in short cycles require a high pumping speed. Our lineup includes the combination of RD series or R series roots vacuum pumps and the P series oil-sealed rotary piston pumps, which are durable against welding dust and can withstand repeated pumping down.
