Nuclear fusion power generation is gaining global interest as a sustainable energy source for the future, primarily because it uses abundant natural fuel sources and produces no CO₂ emissions during the power generation process. In recent years, increased participation from the private sector has accelerated the international race toward commercialization.

In fusion energy research, a high vacuum environment is essential at every stage — from plasma generation and heating to transport. Because strong magnetic fields are present around the equipment, vacuum pumps must not only deliver high pumping performance but also meet special requirements such as magnetic-field resistance and long-term reliability.

We are pleased to announce that Kyoto Fusioneering Ltd. selected our magnetic-field-resistant model based on the TG1300M Magnetically Levitated Turbo Molecular Pump for demonstration and evaluation of its continuous pumping performance under strong magnetic field conditions within their integrated test plant “UNITY-1” — a facility located at the company’s Kyoto R&D site, Kyoto Research Center, that validates fusion power generation technologies in a simulated environment.

This product adopts a magnetic-field-resistant rated for environments of up to approximately 160 mT, enabling stable operation under strong magnetic field conditions. It also addresses the specific requirements of fusion-related facilities, including a flange configuration tailored to equipment specifications.

The base model, TG1300M, features an oil-free magnetic bearing design that delivers a clean, low-vibration, high-vacuum environment. Its near-maintenance-free operation and long-term stability make it an ideal choice for advanced research facilities and demonstration plants requiring continuous operation.
